WTV Support now added

Posted: January 19, 2011 in HandBrake, Windows

HB BatchEncoder has received an update today.

Added ability to process WTV files (the new recorded files in Win 7) – it processes them to dvr-ms files first and then completes the conversion with HB. WTV support only kicks in if you are running on Win 7.

Fixed small isse with preset code where it was upscaling content.

    Has anyone gotting this to work? If so, are there any dependent programs needed other that handbrake? My problem is that the script is not doing the wtv to dvr-ms conversion.

      This is fully tested and working. It only works on a Win 7 system as it relies on the Win 7 wtv encoder to create an interim file. If you are not running win7, it will not work and will issue a dialog to tell you that. Post your config.txt details here and your OS please.

        I have three Win7 media center machines, 2-64bit and 1-32bit. I have installed the software only on the 64bit machines thus far. If I try drag and drop it does not allow the wtv file to be dragged into the GUI (not sure if that help any). Do I need to run your install file as administrator? I have installed HandBrake 0.9.5. Here is the contents of the bconfig.txt file;

        D:\Recorded TV
        D:\Mp4_files
        -f mp4 -4 -X 960 –loose-anamorphic -e x264 -q 20 -r 29.97 –pfr -a 1 -E faac -6 dpl2 -R Auto -B 160 -D 0.0 -m –verbose=1

        WTV support was not added to drag and drop , its on the list.

        Have you tried just using the normal interface? Does the bottom right dialog come up and tell you how many files it has found? Or does it say 0 files?

        Did you install from the setupexe or the zip?

    Ok, I think I see the error of my ways. I have CRS and no patience. When I start the batch processor the dialog says “Encoding 1 of 0” and I thought it could not find any files but I see now that it is creating the dvr-ms file during this stage. Since I am only on the first file will it continue through the directory one file at a time after this one is completed?

    Thanks for sharing your work. Any recommendation on which file extension/preset shrinks the file size and displays the best on an iphone4?

      Actually, thanks to you I found a little bug – it will encode fine but not show the file count…just redownload it and reinstall as have fixed that now..sorry.

      Iphone 4 – just sue the iphone 4 preset , with m4v as your extension. That works great
